BEIJING, March 31 (Xinhua) -- The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) saw Guangzhou R&F see off Changchun Yatai 2-1 while Beijing Guoan beat city rival Renhe 4-0 in the Chinese Super League (CSL) games on Saturday.
After 10 years, Yatai went back to its lucky home turf in the season, Changchun Nanling stadium, where it grabbed the CSL trophy in 2007.
Although a first-half goal by Fan Xiaodong was disallowed by the VAR, a volley shot in the 61st minute by Zhang Xiaofei reminded Yatai fans of their earlier moments of sparks.
Odion Ighalo could have enlarged Yatai's advantage in the 72nd minute, but his straight shots were all denied by R&F defender Zhang Chenlong.
Six minutes later, R&F found the equalizer as Eran Zahavi sent his free kick into the net.
During the injury minutes, Yu Rui received the red card for his handball, seeing Ribeiro Calixto turn the table for R&F from the penalty spot.
Prior to the final whistle, Ighalo made his follow-up equalizer, but was disallowed by the VAR as he had been in the box before teammate Du Zhenyu had his penalty kick.
During the first CSL Beijing derby in Workers' Stadium, Beijing Renhe organized a solid defence system until Jonathan Soriano Casas unleashed his fantastic free kick into the deep net in the 43rd minute.
Guoan then made a pair of quick goals in the first five minutes of the second half, before Yu Dabao sealed the match in the 82nd minute through a penalty kick.
In the other two games on Saturday, Shanghai Greenland Shenhua defeated Hebei China Fortune 4-2, Henan Jianye held a 1-1 draw with Dalian Yifang. Enditem
