UNTIED NATIONS -- The UN Security Council will hold emergency consultations on the situation in Gaza after Israeli soldiers reportedly killed 15 Palestinian protesters along the border fence.

"At the request of #Kuwait, the @UN Security Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. (EST) in informal consultations ... to discuss the latest developments in #Gaza," the Kuwaiti mission to the United Nations tweeted on Friday, which is a UN holiday. (UN-Consultation-Gaza)

BAKU -- More than 1,000 oil workers of SOCAR's "Azneft" Production Union have been evacuated from Azerbaijan's Caspian offshore platforms due to the severe weather conditions in the country, state news agency AZERTAC said Friday.

Phone messages were sent to all sites of offshore oil and gas production departments in connection with meteorological forecasts, "Azneft" spokesman Ibrahim Ahmadov said. (Azerbaijan-Oil worker-Withdraw)

TRIPOLI -- The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) have provided assistance to more than 8,000 displaced women in Libya.

"In order to respond to the growing needs of vulnerable displaced women across Libya, UNHCR and UNFPA, with the support of German funding, are currently distributing 8,517 dignity and hygiene kits in 16 different locations in the areas of Tripoli, Misrata, Sabha, Nafusa Mountains, Bani Walid, Janzour, Ubari and Murzaq," the UN Support Mission in Libya said in a statement on Friday.
