GAZA -- Although the anti-Israel Palestinian mass rally in Gaza was supposed to go peaceful, the demonstrations turned violent, leaving at least 16 Palestinians killed and over 1,400 others injured.

The rally, dubbed Great March of Return, is a month-and-half long sit-in staged along the border fence between the Gaza Strip and Israel to demand the return of Palestinians refugees who were forced to leave their cities during the Arab-Israeli war in 1948. (Gaza-Protest-Palestine-Israel)

ANKARA -- Turkey has started preparations for further operations to clear northern Syrian regions, as well as Iraq's Sinjar, from Syrian Kurdish militants towards the Iraqi border, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday.

"We have started necessary preparation to clear northern Syrian areas towards the Iraqi border," Erdogan said during the ruling Justice and Development Party meeting in Ankara, as he mentioned the Syrian cities of Ayn al-Arab, Tel Abyad and Rasulayn. (Turkey-Military operation-Iraq-Syria)

DAMASCUS -- A deal for the evacuation of the Islam Army rebels from the Douma district in the capital Damascus' Eastern Ghouta countryside could be concluded soon, state news agency SANA reported on Friday.

While SANA has yet to give more details, negotiations between the Islam Army and the government through the mediation of the Russians have been ongoing for days to reach an agreement similar to other deals reached with other rebel groups in areas of Eastern Ghouta. (Syria-Eastern Ghouta)

ANKARA -- Some 17 undocumented migrants were killed and 36 injured when their minibus crashed and caught fire late Thursday in Turkey's eastern Igdir province.

The minibus carrying Afghan, Pakistani and Iranian nationals entered Turkey illegally from Iranian border, and caught fire after hitting a light pole on the Igdir-Kars highway, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported. (Turkey-Accident) Enditem
