SEOUL -- Chinese President Xi Jinping's special representative Yang Jiechi held talks with South Korean President Moon Jae-in at the Blue House in Seoul on Friday, with both sides pledging to promote a political settlement of the Korean Peninsula issue.

Yang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the head of the General Office of the Central Committee for Foreign Affairs, extended Xi's greetings to Moon. (SKorea-China-Political Settlement)

MOSCOW -- Russian Foreign Ministry on Friday asked Britain to downsize its diplomats stationed in Russia to the same level as Russia has in Britain within a month in retaliation to measures imposed following the poison attack in Britain.

The ministry summoned British Ambassador to Russia Laurie Bristow to be presented with a strong protest over "provocative and unjustified actions of the British side," according to a statement published by the ministry. (Russia-UK-Sanctions)

ANKARA -- Some 17 undocumented migrants were killed and 36 injured when their minibus crashed and caught fire late Thursday in Turkey's eastern Igdir province.

The minibus carrying Afghan, Pakistani and Iranian nationals entered Turkey illegally from Iranian border, and caught fire after hitting a light pole on the Igdir-Kars highway, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported. (Turkey-Accident)

GAZA -- Gaza's Health Ministry said on Friday that four Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire during the anti-Israeli massive rallies staged by thousands along Gaza-Israel borders.

The ministry's spokesman Ashraf al-Qedra said three were killed during the protests near the borders and identified as Mohammed al-Najjar, Mahmoud Abu Moammar and Mohammed Abu Omar. (Gaza-Protest) Enditem
