BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.26 percent, at 3,168.9 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.05 percent higher at 10,868.66 points. The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 3.16 percent to close at 1,900.48 points.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's stocks finished lower on Friday, with the Cambodia Securities Exchange Index down 0.6 point, or 0.18 percent, to close at 341.22 points.

A total of 1,830 shares worth 8.25 million riel (2,062 U.S. dollars) were traded.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market closed up 0.71 percent on Friday compared to the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index increased by 6.68 points to reach 943.15 points after closing.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Friday with bellwether tech-related issues gaining ground tracking their U.S. counterparts' rise on Wall Street's overnight rally.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 295.22 points, or 1.40 percent, from Thursday to close the day at 21,454.30.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 1,174.46 points on Friday, up 7.43 points, or 0.64 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.

A total of 59.183 million shares worth 3.303 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND)(147.07 million U.S. dollars) were traded on Friday.
