GAZA -- Thousands of Palestinians began to flock on Friday to sit-in near the fence of the border between eastern Gaza Strip and Israel, amid deep Israeli fear and readiness to counter any attempts of infiltration through the border.

The Israeli army declared a status of alert and sent forces to the borderline area, including dozens of snipers, to prevent infiltration. (Gaza-Israel-March)

ANKARA -- Some 17 undocumented migrants were killed and 36 injured when their minibus crashed and caught fire late Thursday in Turkey's eastern Igdir province.

The minibus carrying Afghan, Pakistani and Iranian nationals entered Turkey illegally from Iranian border, and caught fire after hitting a light pole on the Igdir-Kars highway, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported. (Turkey-Accident-Death)

NAY PYI TAW -- Myanmar's President-elect U Win Myint was sworn in as the new president of the country on Friday and pledged to pursue three objectives as his priorities.

The objectives are law enforcement and people's socio-economic development; national reconciliation and domestic peace; and amendment of the constitution for the establishment of a democratic federal union. (Myanmar-New President-Objective)

BANGKOK -- At least 20 Myanmar migrant workers were killed and three others wounded in a blaze onboard a bus in the northwestern Thai province of Tak in the wee hours on Friday, Thailand's Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation said.

The fire occurred at about 01:25 a.m. local time in the cargo bay of the bus, which was carrying a total of 47 Myanmar migrant workers. (Thailand-Bus fire-Migrant Worker) Enditem
