JAKARTA -- Indonesian national police has decided to prolong a military operation in Poso of Central Sulawesi province to hunt for the rest of members of a group which has linkages with the IS terrorist organization.
The operation would be lengthened for another three months starting from April of this year to capture seven terrorists who still survive and hide in a deep forest of Poso, national police spokesman Mohammad Iqbal disclosed on Thursday. (Indonesia-IS)

MANILA -- Philippine authorities Thursday lowered the alert status of Mayon volcano from alert level 3 to alert level 2, signifying that the country's most active volcano has shown "a general decline in unrest."
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said it has observed "the cessation of eruptive activity and the decline to a moderate level of unrest" during the past two weeks. (Philippines-Volcano)

SHIBERGHAN, Afghanistan -- A key commander of the hardliner Islamic State (IS) militant group has been captured and three foreign nationals of the outfit killed as Afghan security forces' aircrafts targeted its hideout northern Afghanistan, local police said Thursday.

SEOUL -- South Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Thursday agreed to hold a summit on April 27 in the truce village of Panmunjom, the first meeting between the leaders of the two sides in 11 years.
The agreement was reached during a high-level dialogue between the two sides, which were held earlier in the day at Tongilgak, a DPRK building in Panmunjom. (S.Korea-DPRK-Summit) Enditem
