Xi congratulates new Trinidad and Tobago president

BEIJING, March 29 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping has congratulated Paula-Mae Weekes, the first woman president of Trinidad and Tobago, saying China attaches great importance to the development of bilateral relations.

In his congratulatory message sent on March 19, Xi said in recent years, the relationship between China and Trinidad and Tobago has maintained a good development momentum.

The two countries have enhanced political mutual trust, achieved fruitful results in bilateral cooperation, and maintained communication and coordination in international affairs.

Xi said China is willing to work with Trinidad and Tobago to promote the bilateral friendly cooperative relations of mutual benefit and development for both countries and peoples. Enditem
