Carlos Tevez injured in prison match

BUENOS AIRES, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Former Manchester United and Shanghai Shenhua forward Carlos Tevez was injured during an impromptu match with prison inmates, according to local media reports.

The 34-year-old Boca Juniors player sustained a calf muscle strain in a five-a-side kickabout at the Bouwer jail in the northern Argentine city of Cordoba, the Clarin newspaper said.

Tevez went to the maximum-security complex to visit his half-brother, Juan Alberto Martinez, who is serving a 16-year sentence for assaulting an armored vehicle.

The injury is expected to keep the former Argentina international on the sidelines until mid-April.

Tevez has scored just three goals in 10 matches since returning to his original club Boca in January after a disappointing season with Shanghai Shenhua in the Chinese Super League. Enditem
