Macedonian economic outlook is positive: ministers

Xinhua,March 29, 2018 Adjust font size:

SKOPJE, March 28 (Xinhua) -- The Macedonian economy is starting to move forward and it can achieve growth rates exceeding four percent, Macedonian Minister of Finance Dragan Tevdovski told a forum on Wednesday, which was attended by businesses and economy experts.

Based on Macedonia's economic data, Tevdovski said the projected 3.2-percent GDP growth for this year was attainable.

Meanwhile, Macedonian Vice Premier for Economic Affairs Koco Angjusev said that politics in Macedonia should distance itself from business and let economic mechanisms create rules.

He noted that each investor must feel safe, as in this way the country would be stable.

Angjusev also said the growth of a small economy like the Macedonian required the creation of export-oriented companies and investments in sustainable infrastructure projects.

"If we want economic growth we must first increase domestic demand, increase exports up to 65 percent of the GDP and fund capital but sustainable investments," he said at the forum.

He noted that ten months after assuming office, he was convinced there was hope for the Macedonian economy. Enditem
