YUSHAN, China, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Snooker Players' Championship Grand Final winner Joe Perry was eliminated as half a dozen home players made it to the quarterfinals of the 2018 Chinese Pool World Championship held in Yushan county, China's Jiangxi Province on Wednesday night.

Zhang Guanghao took an early lead and enjoyed a 11-3 victory over Perry. The latter, who defeated Barry Hawkins on Tuesday, said he still needs to get used to the cue.

Six male players from China, including the previous title winners Shi Hanqing and Yang Fan, headed into the quarterfinals. The other two berths were filled by Chris Merlin from Britain and Phone Myint Kyaw of Myanmar.

"There are a lot of strong players here, so I will practice for my next match," said Iran's Muhammad. "Many people in Iran enjoy playing Chinese Pool, and snooker tables are not everywhere there," he added.

In other action, the winner of the women's group in the 2015 Championship Bai Ge defeated the 2017 champ Fu Xiaofang 9-3 to continue her pursuit of the title, with Kelly Fisher of Britain and Kim Ga Young of South Korea staying in the last eight.

This is the fourth straight year for Yushan County to host the world's highest-level Chinese Pool tournament. The total prize money up for grabs this year is three million RMB (about 474,285 U.S. dollars). Enditem
