ISLAMABAD, March 28 (Xinhua) -- At least seven people were killed and three others injured when their vehicle was hit by a landsliding in Pakistan's northern Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) area on Wednesday, local media reported.

According to the reports, around 10 people were travelling to attend a religious gathering when their vehicle was hit by landsliding in the Darel area of Diamer district in Gilgit-Baltistan, resulting in the killing of six people on the spot and injuring four others.

One of the injured people succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital. The locals along with rescue teams rushed to the spot soon after they received the reports of the incident and shifted the injured to District Headquarters Hospital Chilas, a small town located in GB.

The identity of the victims is yet to be ascertained, said Geo News.

Northern Pakistan is prone to frequent landslides. Incidents of landsliding have been responsible for a number of casualties each year, according to government officials. Enditem
