Luxembourg recalls ambassador to Moscow for consultations

Xinhua,March 28, 2018 Adjust font size:

BRUSSELS, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Luxembourg announced on Wednesday that it has decided to call back its ambassador to Moscow for consultations in the context of the Salisbury attack.

Luxembourg Minister for Foreign Affairs Jean Asselborn said in a statement that "The Luxembourg Government strongly condemns the attack and agrees with the United Kingdom Government's analysis that it is highly probable that the Russian Federation is responsible for this act and that no other plausible explanation exists."

Luxembourg maintains the position of the European Union, which demands that more light be shed on the case and has shown solidarity with London since the attacks.

But the Luxembourg government, according to Jean Asselborn, will not expel Russian diplomats because they are not numerous enough and do not represent a serious threat to Luxembourg interests. Enditem
