RAMALLAH, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah welcomed Wednesday the decisions of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) regarding Jerusalem, considering it a victory for values of rights, justice and humanity.
He said in a post on his Facebook page that he appreciates the decisions of the 178-member IPU, urging members to push their governments to realize the Palestinian state under the international legitimacy resolutions.
Hamdallah pointed out that "all Israeli measures and legislation to apply its laws on Jerusalem are illegal and enjoy no legitimacy."
In its recent 138th session held in Geneva, the IPU General Assembly rejected the latest American decision on Jerusalem, which recognized it as the capital of Israel, considering it null and void in accordance with international law.
The IPU is a global inter-parliamentary institution with a permanent observer status at the UN and a membership of 178 countries and 12 regional parliamentary assemblies. It aims to promote democracy and inter-parliamentary dialogue. Enditem
