ADDIS ABABA, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Ethiopia's national carrier Ethiopian Airlines (ET) on Tuesday opened three African destinations including Kisangani and Mbuji-Mayi in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Nosy Be island in Madagascar.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony in Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, company CEO Tewolde Gebremariam said the new destinations will boost intra-Africa air connectivity.

He also said that the new flight destinations will ease the travel for business people by providing the fastest route possible, especially for businessmen from the two countries and China.

Ethiopian Airlines currently flies to three other destinations in DRC being the capital Kinshasa, the southern city Lubumbashi and Goma in eastern DRC. ET also currently flies to Madagascar capital Antananarivo.

ET, the first African airlines to fly to a Chinese destination back in 1973, currently flies to Beijing, Chengdu, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Guangzhou. It also plans to add Shenzhen as its sixth Chinese destination in June. Enditem
