German shares gain 1.56 pct Tuesday

FRANKFURT, March 27 (Xinhua) -- German stocks rose on Tuesday, with the benchmark DAX index up 183.57 points, or 1.56 percent, to close at 11,970.83 points.

German semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 2.41 percent. European health care company Fresenius SE and chemical group BASF rose by 2.39 percent and 2.07 percent respectively.

Reinsurance company Munich Re lost the most among the blue chips, by falling 0.16 percent. Commerzbank down by 0.09 percent.

Manufacturing and electronics company Siemens was the most-traded share with a turnover of 294.11 million euros (363.99 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
