German shares lose 1.77 pct Friday

FRANKFURT, March 23 (Xinhua) -- German shares lost on Friday, with the benchmark DAX index down 213.77 points, or 1.77 percent, to close at 11,886.31 points.

German industrial giant Thyssenkrupp lost the most among the blue chips, down by 2.93 percent, followed by tire specialist Continental and automotive manufacturer Volkswagen, which lost 2.83 percent and 2.70 percent respectively.

Energy group E.ON, German telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom and personal-care company Beiersdorf were the top three winners, rising by 1.00 percent, 0.66 percent and 0.09 percent respectively.

German multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company Bayer was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 424.10 million euros (523.59 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
