CAPE TOWN, March 23 (Xinhua) -- The following are news items in South African major news outlets on Friday:

-- By midnight on Friday South Africans should know whether Moody's has downgraded SA's sovereign credit rating to junk, or kept the country at above investment grade.

Moody's was the only major ratings agency to not downgrade South Africa to sub-investment grade in 2017. It currently has the country at one notch above junk.(Fin24)

-- The Presidency said on Thursday that the Democratic Alliance (DA) is well within its right to approach a court over former President Jacob Zuma's use of public funds to foot his legal bills.

The party said it will be going to court to review and set aside a decision allowing Zuma to use taxpayers' money to fund his fight against fraud and corruption charges.(Eyewitness News)

-- African National Congress (ANC) Stalwart Pallo Jordan has called for the land to be given to cooperatives to collectively work it for food security instead of being given to individual farmers for small scale farming.
