UNITED NATIONS, March 21 (Xinhua) -- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Wednesday condemned a suicide attack in the Afghan capital of Kabul during the Persian New Year celebrations near a shrine, said his spokesman.

The Persian New Year, or Nowruz, is a time of renewal and celebration, and should be a time for promoting the values of peace and solidarity, said Stephane Dujarric, Guterres' spokesman.

Those who have organized this attack must be brought to justice, he said.

The secretary-general extended his condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured. He expressed his solidarity with the government and people of Afghanistan, said Dujarric.
