Spanish stock market gain 0.79 pct Friday

MADRID, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Spanish shares rose on Friday, with the benchmark stock market index Ibex-35 up 0.79 percent or 76.80 points, to 9,761 points.

A total of 17 of the selected 35 large companies gained in the day.

Spain's largest bank Banco Santander advanced 1.97 percent, followed by Spain's second-largest bank BBVA and Spain's energy company Repsol that rose 1.88 percent and 1.86 percent respectively.

Media company Mediaset lost 3.33 percent, being the top loser of the blue chips. Consultancy and Technology company Indra A was down 2.51 percent and hotel chain Melia Hotels went down 1.90 percent. Enditem
