KABUL, March 8 (Xinhua) -- China has donated education supplies to an Afghan girls' high school in Kabul on the eve of the International Women's Day which falls on March 8.
Political Counselor of Chinese Embassy Zhang Zhixin attended a donation ceremony on Wednesday and said the Chinese Embassy gave donations to the teachers and students of the Malalai High School based on the tradition of friendship and mutual assistance between China and Afghanistan.
Zhang said he hoped the donation would help the female students get better education as the educational ties between the two neighboring countries are improving.
Speaking at the address, Shafiqa Wardak, principal of Malalai High School, said it is well-known that the status of education for Afghan women is in a difficult situation.
This donation brings Chinese people's enthusiasm and kindness to the teachers and students of the school as they were marking the women's day, the principal said.
The school will use and keep the equipment donated by China so that teachers and students can learn more about Chinese culture, history and development achievements, she said.
Malalai High School was founded in 1931. It is Afghanistan's first women's high school and currently has more than 3,200 students enrolled. Enditem
