Canadian stock market edges up

TORONTO, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Canada's main stock index edged up Tuesday with gains in resource stocks blotted out by losses in industrial and energy issues.

The Toronto Stock Exchange's benchmark Standard & Poor's/TSX Composite Index edged up 3.91 points, or 0.03 percent, to close the day at 15,545.19.

The Canadian dollar came to 0.77.59 U.S. dollar Goldcorp gained 2.7 percent to 17.01 Canadian dollars while Teck Resources was up 1.1 percent to 36.68 Canadian dollars.

But the market was capped by the heavyweight energy group, down 0.5 percent. Canadian Natural Resources fell 1.1 percent to 39.82 Canadian dollars while Suncor Energy was off 0.2 percent to 41.40 Canadian dollars.

Canadian National Railway declined two percent to 95.24 Canadian dollars. Bombardier Inc dropped 5.8 percent to 3.77 Canadian dollars.

Canopy Growth added 1.7 percent to 32.93 Canadian dollars. Enditem
