SEOUL -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) showed willingness to hold talks with the United States about issues, including the denuclearized Korean Peninsula, and agreed on the third summit meeting with South Korea next month, the Blue House of South Korea said Tuesday.

Chung Eui-yong, top national security adviser for South Korean President Moon Jae-in, told a televised press briefing that the DPRK side expressed its willingness to talk candidly with the United States about the denuclearization issue and normalized ties between Pyongyang and Washington. MANILA -- The Philippines hailed on Tuesday a U.S. News and World Report that placed the Philippines in the top list of 20 countries that are worth to sink in their capital in 2018.

SEOUL -- South Korean President Moon Jae-in's special envoys returned home Tuesday afternoon after making a two-day visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

COLOMBO -- Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena on Tuesday decided to declare a 10-day state of emergency following clashes in Kandy in central Sri Lanka.

MOSCOW -- A Russian An-26 transport plane crashed in Syria on Tuesday, killing all 26 passengers and six crew members on board, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

The military cargo plane hit the ground while landing in the Hmeymim airbase in Syria, the ministry said in a statement.

The plane was not attacked and technical malfunction may have caused the crash, according to the statement. (Russia-Plane Crash) Enditem
