Singaporean stocks close 1.55 pct higher

SINGAPORE, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Singaporean stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) wend up 1.55 percent or 53.31 points to close at 3,491.92.

A total of 2.36 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.5 billion Singapore dollars (about 1.13 billion U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 284 to 150.

The STI index closed down 1.17 percent or 40.59 points to close at 3438.61 on Monday. Enditem
