DAMASCUS -- UN aid convoys started entering rebel-held areas in the Eastern Ghouta countryside east of the Syrian capital Damascus on Monday.
It is the first aid shipment to enter the area since a Russian-backed humanitarian pause went into force seven days ago.
Up to 46 truckloads of aid entered the Douma district in Eastern Ghouta through the Wafidin crossing northeast of Damascus. (Syria-Aid Convoy-Eastern Ghouta)

SEOUL -- South Korean President Moon Jae-in's special envoys to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) agreed to meet with top DPRK leader Kim Jong Un, the Blue House of South Korea said Monday.
Presidential Spokesman Kim Eui-kyeom told a press briefing that the special delegation had agreed with the DPRK side to have a meeting and a dinner with the DPRK leader from 6:00 p.m. local time (0900 GMT) on Monday.

ANKARA -- Turkish police Monday detained four Islamic State suspects in northern Samsun province, as part of an investigation into a possible attack on the U.S. embassy in Turkey.
The four suspects detained were all Iraqi citizens and were taken to the police station for legal proceedings, state-run Anadolu Agency reported. (Turkey-IS)

LUSAKA -- Zambia's immigration authorities have deported 47 foreigners, 46 of them from Ethiopia, for illegally entering the country, a spokesperson said Monday.
