SEOUL, March 5 (Xinhua) -- South Korean President Moon Jae-in's approval rating rose for two straight weeks amid the continued dialogue mood between the two Koreas, a weekly survey showed Monday.
According to the Realmeter poll, support for Moon gained 0.8 percentage points from a week earlier to 66.5 percent last week. Moon's support score was on the rise for two weeks in a row.
The result was based on a poll of 2,003 voters conducted last week. It had 2.2 percentage points in margin of error with a 95 percent confidence level.
The continued rise in Moon's support came amid the inter-Korean dialogue mood that lasted after the decision by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to participate in the South Korea-hosted Winter Olympics.
The high-ranking DPRK delegations to the Olympic opening and closing ceremonies met with President Moon to discuss ways to build peace on the Korean Peninsula and improve inter-Korean relations.
Moon dispatched his special envoys to Pyongyang earlier in the day as part of efforts to broker talks between the DPRK and the United States to advance the denuclearization on the peninsula.
Support for Moon's ruling Democratic Party climbed 0.7 percentage points over the week to 50 percent last week, keeping an upward trend for two straight weeks.
It was followed by the main opposition Liberty Korea Party with 19.7 percent, which added 0.4 percentage points compared with the previous week.
The approval scores for the conservative Bareun Future Party fell 0.3 percentage points to 6.8 percent, while those for the minor progressive Justice Party and the liberal Party for Democracy and Peace stood at 4.5 percent and 3.0 percent respectively. Enditem
