Ter Mors, Lorentzen win ISU World Sprint Championships

   CHANGCHUN, China, March 5 (Xinhua) -- Olympic men's 500 meters champion Havard Holmefijord Lorentzen and women's 1,000m gold medalist Jorien Ter Mors

were both crowned at the ISU World Sprint Championships which concluded here on Sunday.

   After the two-day competitions, Lorentzen of Norway claimed 139.360 points for the men's title, and the Netherlands' Ter Mors topped the women's race with 150.735 points.

   The Netherlands's Kjld Nuis and Kai Verbij clinched the second and third position respectively in the men's final rankings, while Gao Tingyu of China was ranked 21st after giving up the last round of 1,000m. Chinese Yang Tao skipped the last round of both 500m and 1000m and ranked 23rd.

   On the women's part, the United States' Brittany Bowe took the second place and Olga Fatkulina of Russia came in third, while China's Yu Jing finished seventh and Zhao Xin and Li Qishi placed 11th and 13th respectively.

   Japanese star Nao Kodaira just ranked 20th in the women's race after leading the two 500m races but giving up the last round of 1,000 meters.  Enditem
