LONDON -- British Prime Minister Theresa May on Sunday told U.S. President Donald Trump that she has "deep concern" at his decision to raise tariffs on steel and aluminum.
A Downing Street spokesperson said May had a telephone call with Trump earlier Sunday, in which May also said that multilateral action was the only way to resolve the problem. (Britain-US-Tariff)

BENI, Democratic Republic of Congo -- At least seven people were killed Sunday in an ambush by suspected Ugandan rebels in Beni, in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, security sources said.
Suspected rebels of the Ugandan Allied Democratic Forces also kidnapped eight others in the ambush on the Eringeti road, according to the sources, who requested anonymity. (DR Congo-Security-Rebel)

DAMASCUS -- Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said on Sunday that the chemical attacks allegations against the Syrian government are part of the Western "dictionary of lies," state news agency SANA reported.

KHARTOUM -- Sudanese authorities on Sunday freed 177 foreigners held by a human trafficking group in a neighborhood east of the Sudanese capital Khartoum, official SUNA news agency reported.
"A joint force of the central reserve police, emergency and operations administration, the criminal investigation and the police of the locality cracked down on the area and arrested the main defendant," Maj. BAGHDAD -- Iraqi security forces on Sunday killed six Islamic State militants in a clash near the town of Hawijah in Iraq's oil-rich province of Kirkuk, a local police source said.
Acting on intelligence report, a joint force from the local police and government-backed paramilitary tribal fighters raided a house in the evening at a village near Hawijah, some 230 km north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, Capt. Ahmed al-Jubouri from Hawijah police told Xinhua. (Iraq-IS) Enditem
