China's property tax legislation underway: spokesperson

BEIJING, March 4 (Xinhua) -- China is accelerating efforts on the legislation of a closely-watched property tax law, a spokesperson for the annual session of the country's top legislature said Sunday.

The Budgetary Affairs Commission of the National People's Congress (NPC)Standing Committee and the Ministry of Finance are jointly drafting the law, and debate on important issues and internal consultations are underway, Zhang Yesui, spokesman for the first session of the 13th NPC, told a press conference.

Work will be done to ensure that a draft will be put in place and submitted to the NPC Standing Committee for first reading at an early date, Zhang said. Enditem
