BANGKOK -- A van veered off and crashed into a convenience store in northern Thailand's Chiang Mai, injuring nine Chinese tourists, China's consulate general in Chiang Mai confirmed on Saturday.

According to the consulate general, the accident happened on Saturday afternoon when the bus lost control and collided with a 7-11 store on its way to Chiang Mai from Pai, a mountainous town in northern Thailand. (Thailand-Chinese Tourists-Accident)

KUALA LUMPUR -- The new effort to find the missing Malaysia Airline flight MH370 is expected to complete by June, a Malaysian official said Saturday as families marked the fourth year since the plane disappeared.

After previous search effort failed to find the plane in an area of 120,000 square kilometers, the Malaysian government signed an agreement with U.S. based exploration firm Ocean Infinity in January to resume search on a "no cure, no fee" basis within a 90-day timeframe. (Malaysia-MH370)

ISLAMABAD -- Candidates backed by the Pakistani ruling party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) are leading the elections of the Senate, the country's upper house of the parliament.

The candidates supported by the ruling party have so far secured 18 seats by making a cleaned sweep in the country's largest Punjab Province by winning all 12 seats for the Senate elections, according to local reports. (Pakistan-Election-Senate)

KABUL -- More than 300 armed insurgents have been killed elsewhere in the conflict-stricken Afghanistan over the past week as government forces have increased military pressure against militants, the Interior Ministry said on Saturday.

"A total of 302 insurgents have been killed, 187 others injured and 28 more militants have been captured elsewhere in Afghanistan over the past seven days," the ministry said in a statement. (Afghanistan-Attack)

PHNOM PENH -- The ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) of Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen won all the Senate seats at stake in an election on Feb. 25, according to official results released by the National Election Committee (NEC) on Saturday.

The results showed that the CPP received 11,202 (or 96 percent) of the total 11,670 votes, sweeping all 58 elected Senate seats. (Cambodia-Election) Enditem
