PARIS, March 3 (Xinhua) -- An avalanche happened Saturday noon in the area of the Aragnouet-Bielsa tunnel in Hautes-Pyrenees, southern France, killing one Spanish skier and leaving the other "in absolute urgency", local newspaper La Depeche reported.

Five Spanish skiers were hit by the avalanche at about 12:00 local time. Three managed to get out of the flow of snow and were able to give the alert.

About two hours later, the two buried skiers were found with one dead and the other "in absolute urgency". The injured has been transported to hospital.

On Friday, four people died in an avalanche in Entraunes, southeastern France's Alpes-Maritime, where they were in a hiking activity. Enditem
