Shanghai SIPG beat Dalian Yifang 8-0 for biggest lop-sided CSL match

SHANGHAI, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Both Oscar dos Santos Emboaba Junior and Wu Lei completed their hat tricks to help Shanghai SIPG beat newly-promoted Dalian Yifang 8-0 in the first round of the Chinese Super League (CSL) new season here on Saturday.

The overwhelming victory became the biggest lop-sided match in the 14-year CSL history.

Shanghai SIPG stunned the visitors 30 seconds into the game as Oscar netted in a back-heel pass from U23 player Hu Jinghang. The Brazilian midfielder made it 2-0 in the 24th minute when his shot was deflected but still went into the net.

Givanildo Vieira de Sousa, known as Hulk, won the chance for a penalty kick and he made it 3-0 for Shanghai in the 37th minute.

For Dalian Yifang, neither Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco nor Nicolas Fabian Gaitan created much threat throughout the match.

Wu scored a pair of goals in the 60th and 65th minutes, before Oscar completed his hat-trick in the 75th minute.

Wu then netted his third goal with a header in the 83rd minute, before Lyu Wenjun concluded the scoring spree one minute later.

In other first round matches, Chongqing Lifan edged Beijing Renhe 1-0, and Tianjin Teda tied Hebei China Fortune 1-1. Enditem
