Rui Ferreira appointed Angola's Supreme Court Chief Justice

LUANDA, March 2 (Xinhua) -- The Angolan President Joao Lourenco on Friday appointed jurist Rui Ferreira as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

According to a press release from the President's civil office, the appointment, took duly into account the proposal of the High Judicial Magistracy Council.

For several years, Rui Ferreira served as the Constitutional Court boss.

Since taking office months ago, Angolan President Joao Lourenco has been making some appointments to clean up the nation's ailing, corruption-riddled economy.

Lourenco was elected in the general elections of Aug. 23, 2017. Enditem
