French shares drop 2.39 pct on Friday

PARIS, March 2 (Xinhua) -- French shares lost on Friday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 down by 2.39 percent, or 125.98 points, to close at 5,136.58 points.

A total of 39 of the 40 selected large companies lost in the day.

LafargeHolcim, a French-Swiss multinational manufacturer of building materials tumbled 7.86 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. French aeronautic giant Safran was down 4.63 percent. French multinational electric utility company Engie S.A. edged down 3.69 percent.

The only gainer Valeo, a French multinational automotive supplier, advanced 0.34 percent. Enditem
