OUAGADOUGOU, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Gunshots and a loud explosion were heard at the headquarters of the army, not far from the central market of Ouagadougou, capital of Burkina Faso, on Friday, local sources told Xinhua.

The explosion has raised a huge cloud of dust. Shots were also heard near the French Embassy in Ouagadougou. People were running in all directions to protect themselves, sources said.

The police department of Burkina Faso has confirmed that it was a terrorist attack, and the zone of attack has been blocked. Enditem
