Chinese, U.S. senior officials have constructive talks on trade issues

BEIJING, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese official Liu He is visiting the United States and he has constructive talks with some senior U.S. officials, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Friday.

Liu is a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and director of the General Office of the Central Leading Group for Financial and Economic Affairs.

According to spokesperson Hua Chunying, Liu held talks with the U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, White House National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn, and U.S Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer on Thursday afternoon.

Both sides had frank exchanges on the main issues of bilateral trade and economic relations, Hua said, noting that the exchanges create necessary conditions for further cooperation. Enditem
