BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.59 percent, at 3,254.53 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.79 percent lower at 10,856.25 points. The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.00 percent to close at 1,772.01 points.

JAKARTA -- Indonesian shares closed lower by 23.73 points, or 0.36 percent, to a level of 6,582.31 on Friday.
Some 355,116 transactions were booked, involving 10 billion copies of shares with a value of 7.8 trillion rupiah (about 567 million U.S. dollars).

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended lower here on Friday.
