Singaporean stocks close 0.99 pct lower

SINGAPORE, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Singaporean stocks closed down on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) went down 0.99 percent, or 34.65 points, to close at 3,479.20.

A total of 2.29 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.28 billion Singaporean dollars (about 972.9 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 295 to 170.

The STI index closed down 0.12 percent or 4.09 points to close at 3,513.85 on Thursday. Enditem
