German shares lose 1.97 pct Thursday

FRANKFURT, March 1 (Xinhua) -- German shares lost on Thursday, with the benchmark DAX index down 244.91 points, or 1.97 percent, to close at 12,190.94 points.

All 30 German blue chips lost Thursday. German personal-care company Beiersdorf lost the most among the blue chips, down by 4.83 percent, followed by European mass media company ProSiebenSat.1 and sportswear and equipment maker Adidas, which lost 4.30 percent and 4.20 percent respectively.

German insurance and financial services company Allianz was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 393.98 million euros (479.51 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
