British stocks down 0.69 pct Wednesday

LONDON, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Wednesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down 50.54 points or 0.69 percent at 7,231.91 points.

St James's Place, a British wealth management business, soared 2.58 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. International Consolidated Airlines Group and Shire rose by 1.86 percent and 1.80 percent, respectively.

ITV, a British media company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 7.62 percent. Admiral Group, the motor insurance company, dropped 4.56 percent. Fresnillo, a major multinational metal company, dropped 4.20 percent. Enditem
