NAIROBI, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- The following are the news highlights in Kenyan media outlets on Wednesday.

-- A draft bill seeks to radically alter the country's governance structure to hand parliament the powers to elect a one-term ceremonial president. It proposes the creation of the position of an executive prime minister as head of government, scraps that of the deputy president and establishes two deputy prime minister posts. The bill seeks a limit to a president's term to one seven-year from the current two five-year terms.

The proposal further means Kenyan voters would not participate in electing the president as the holder would be chosen by MPs. The bill is set to be introduced to the National Assembly and would require a referendum to succeed. (The Standard)

-- The petition by a lawyer seeking to remove the Chief Justice was dismissed on Tuesday by the speaker of the National Assembly and he warned the public against trying to use parliament to settle scores. (Daily Nation)
