HAIKOU, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- With the "Sanya Serenity Coast" sailing across the globe and the fleet stopping over here, the ongoing Clipper Race is bringing Sanya, a costal city in South China's Hainan Province, closer to the world by highlighting its unique attractions.

With the Sanya stopover in full swing, the crew members from the Clipper Race are making the best of their time here, discovering the best of Sanya through tours to top sightseeing spots and tasting the local delicacies.

Visiting crew member David Benz from Seattle said that Sanya is a beautiful, warm, and friendly city and that he planned to visit it again in the future.

For Liverpool 2018 crew member Clement Lee, this is his second visit to Sanya. "The people of Sanya have been very hospitable and we've learned a lot about the city and the island. It seems very organised and has progressed a lot over the last ten years. I am looking forward to seeing more of Sanya," he said.

In order to help the crew learn more about China's cuisine and culture, the Sanya organizing committee prepared a Chinese cooking class which taught the crew members to make dumplings.

"It is interesting to make dumplings, and the dumplings are very decilious," said UNICEF crew member Felicity Armitage.

"I like the leek and egg stuffing most, and this is a taste I've never tried, and it gives me an experience of trying different Chinese food," said Armitage.

The Sanya Stopover also attracted hoards of local citizens and tourists. The Sanya Serenity Coast, back in its home port, even gave some lucky fans a chance to have a sailing experience of their own, along with a chance to meet the skipper and the crew. Enditem
