Chinese New Year celebrations to culminate with lantern procession in Chicago

CHICAGO, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- As two-week long Chinese New Year, or Spring Festival, holiday comes to its climax with Lantern Festival, citywide celebrations in the U.S. city of Chicago will culminate with a lantern procession on March 3.
The Art Institute of Chicago (AIC) has announced its special event called "Lantern Celebration" featuring lantern-making workshop, Chinese music, Chinese handicrafts, and a lion dance-led lantern procession.
The museum will also provide visitors with Chinese language tour, and offer Chinese festival food at the museum's restaurant.
Apart from lantern celebration to celebrate Chinese New Year, AIC opened an exhibition titled "Mirroring China's Past: Emperors and their Bronzes" which began on Sunday and lasts till May 13.
AIC keeps a close relationship with China, and it has organized many exhibitions of its collection from China, held several events to introduce Chinese culture, such as Chinese lunar festival celebration, including Lunar New Year and Mid Autumn Day.
As a world renowned museum, AIC receives over 1 million visitors each year, and among them, more than 100,000 are Chinese.
Chicago is the first U.S. city to launch Chinese New Year celebration in the name of city government, and 2018 will be the fifth year for the City of Chicago to mark Chinese New Year. Enditem
