More than 500 new Libyan policemen finish training

Xinhua,February 28, 2018 Adjust font size:

TRIPOLI, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Libyan Ministry of the Interior on Tuesday held a graduation ceremony for more than 500 new policemen upon finishing a four-month training course.

They are the 12th batch of police officers who were trained in the four-month course since 2013, in which they received practical training and theoretical lessons in security and legal sciences, Rabee Ayad Marwan, director of Tajura police training center in Tripoli, told Xinhua.

"It is remarkable that this is the first course involving members from different Libyan cities, which reflects the interest shown by most cities in rehabilitating members of their communities to assume security function in their areas of origin," Marwan added.

The ceremony was attended by a number of foreign ambassadors and diplomats.

Since the fall of the Muammar Gaddafi regime in 2011, the Libyan authorities have been struggling to form a security force capable of countering the armed militia in the war-torn country. Enditem
