German shares edge down Tuesday

FRANKFURT, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- German stocks edged down on Tuesday, with the benchmark DAX index down 36.31 points, or 0.29 percent, to close at 12,490.73 points.

German personal-care company Beiersdorf lost 3.09 percent, the top loser among the blue chips, followed by chemical group BASF and chemical and consumer goods company Henkel, which lost 2.76 and 2.72 percent respectively.

European health care company Fresenius SE gained 3.21 percent, becoming the top gainer. Energy group RWE advanced 0.88 percent. European mass media company ProSiebenSat.1 went up by 0.65 percent.

Automotive manufacturer Daimler was the most traded share with a turnover of 323.35 million euros (397.72 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
