Kyrgyz university hosts Chinese Culture Week

BISHKEK, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Culture Week opened at Manas Kyrgyz-Turkish University here Tuesday, with various activities involving Chinese calligraphy, films, cuisine and songs and dances expected to be held within the week.

The event, organized during the Chinese Spring Festival, is aimed at enhancing cultural cooperation between China and Kyrgyzstan and promoting Chinese culture among Kyrgyz students and teaching staff, chief of the Oriental Languages Department of Manas Kyrgyz-Turkish University, Osmonakun Ibraimov, told Xinhua.

He said that the Chinese Culture Week was organized by the Oriental Languages Department of the university with the financial support of the Confucius Institute in Kyrgyzstan.

Though the university started to teach Chinese language long ago, such an event is being organized for the first time, Ibraimov said.

The Chinese Culture Week will last till March 2. Enditem
