SYDNEY -- Dozens of people are believed to have been killed in the 7.5-magnitude earthquake that hit Papua New Guinea (PNG)'s central highlands region early Monday, local media reported Tuesday.

The quake hit the provinces of Southern Highlands and Hela, a heavily forested region about 560 km northwest of the capital, Port Moresby, at around 3.45 a.m. local time (1545 GMT Sunday), according to the U.S. Geological Survey. (Papua New Guinea-Earthquake)

PYONGYANG -- The official media of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) said on Tuesday that the United States should dismantle its nuclear arsenal first if it truly desires a nuclear weapons-free world.

The official Rodong Sinmun said in a commentary that the United States was the first country in the world to make a nuclear weapon and the only one to ever to use it.
