Zambia attracts U.S. tourists through travel shows

LUSAKA, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Zambia successfully raised the country's tourism profile to over 1,000 U.S. travel agents and potential tourists though the annual U.S. Travel and Adventure Shows, a government official said on Monday.

Ngosa Simbyakula, Zambia's ambassador to the United States, said in a statement that Zambia has made the most of the opportunity to promote its tourism to the U.S. market, after the African country set stands in three major shows in Washington, Chicago and Los Angeles.

As one of the strategies to attract more tourists to Zambia, Simbyakula said the tourism shows have set the tone for this year's tourism sales and such promotions should continue.

Paula Newton, a sales director at South African Airways, said in the same statement that Zambia was a wonderful tourism destination for most tourists from the United States.

The Travel and Adventure Shows are U.S. largest series of travel shows with a history of over 14 years. Enditem
