BEIJING, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- "Bajrangi Bhaijaan," Indian director Kabir Khan's 2015 production, will be shown on the Chinese mainland starting Friday.
The film, starring Indian film icon Salman Khan, tells the story of Bajrangi, an ardent devotee of Hindu deity Hanuman, who takes a six-year-old Pakistan girl to her homeland to reunite with her family.
"The story shows that love between people can transcend ethnicity, religion and nationality," Khan said Monday.
Indian films have extended their fanbase in China in recent years. "Secret Superstar," an Indian musical drama film produced by Aamir Khan, has raked in more than 700 million yuan (about 110 million U.S. dollars) since its release on the Chinese mainland on Jan. 19.
"Drawing lessons from Hollywood films and innovation, the Indian film industry has been focusing on disclosing social realities," said Ding Yaping, researcher with the Chinese National Academy of Arts. Enditem
