RABAT, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- A total of 65 football fans have been arrested over their suspected involvements in acts of vandalism in the Moroccan city of Marrakesh, the Public Prosecutor said in a statement on Monday.
The suspects were arrested during and after Morocco's league game between Kawkab of Marrakech and Raja Casablanca in the Grand Stade de Marrakech on Sunday.
The vandalism acts left 14 injured among policemen, the same source said.
These acts also caused serious damage to some of the stadium facilities.
Morocco's stadiums see from time to time acts of vandalism from hooligans supporting particularly the big teams of Wydad and Raja Casablanca.
The Moroccan government have adopted since 2016 a series of preventive and punitive measures to face football hooliganism.
They included banning fans involved in violent acts to attend football games and fans traveling in groups to attend games outside their districts if these trips represent threat to public order, and rigorously enforcing sanctions against the clubs whose fans get involved in violent acts. Enditem
